Journeyman Training

As a member of the United Association and Local 34 you are expected to have the very best training in the Piping industry. During your apprenticeship you were given a firm foundation and now you may want to take your career in the Pipe Trades to the next level.

These additional training programs are the road that will lead you there. See the news page or contact the office to inquire about class dates and times.

OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certification

The OSHA 10 hour training program is starting to be required on more and more job sites and all members should be carrying this card.

The OSHA 10 hour certification is a voluntary training program designed to help individuals comply with federal OSHA requirements. The purpose is to increase workplace safety awareness and compliance, and reduce the contractors risk of fines and penalties resulting from OSHA violations.

The benefits of this training are immediate as participants learn how to prevent accidents and injuries. The course will include comprehensive instruction in the OSHA Construction Industry Standards. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a course completion card directly from OSHA.

Medical Gas Certification

The Medical Gas program will prepare you to work in this challenging and important part of our industry.

This year there are major renovations of hospitals and clinics that require skilled mechanics with experience in all aspects of medical piping technology. Will you be ready for next year?

RPZ Certification

The Reduced Pressure Zone ( RPZ ) certification is highly recommended for all members.

Minnesota code requires all RPZ's to be tested each year and to be rebuilt every five years to prevent failure and therefore contamination of the public drinking water system. ( 4715.2161 )

You must be a licensed Plumber with this RPZ certification to install and service an RPZ device.

Other Training and Certifications

Other types of training such as pex, fiberglass, containment piping, etc. are generally site specific and therefore not suitable for instruction to the general membership.
